Formed in 2000, the 14-member Spanish Harlem Orchestra is dedicated to preserving the vital
history of classic Latin dance orchestras while writing and arranging new music for today’s
diverse audiences. Oscar Hernández, the ensemble’s pianist, arranger and musical director, has
enjoyed a prolific musical career recording and performing with such world-renowned artists as
Tito Puente, Celia Cruz and Julio Iglesias.

Its 2002 album, Un Gran Dia en El Barrio (“One Great Day in the Neighborhood”), won
the 2003 Latin Billboard Award for “Salsa Album of the Year – Best New Group,” and its next
effort, Across 110th Street, won a Grammy Award for Best Salsa Album in 2004.

“[Spanish Harlem Orchestra is] a raging powerhouse of salsa music!”
(Bill Campbell, Ink 19)

"All the joys of salsa's 1960s and '70s heyday...each song revealed a new treat" (The New York Times).

The Dave Grippo / Bruce Sklar Quintet is a highly eclectic and lively ensemble featuring a repertoire of mainly original compositions penned by pianist Bruce Sklar. Co-pilot of this Vermont tradition is Dave Grippo on alto and baritone saxophone with drummer, Gabe Jarrett, bassist Stacey Starkweather, and guitarist Nicholas Cassarino rounding out this fantastic assembly. The group has shared a stage with Betty Carter, Gil Scott-Heron, Dr. John, and Gerry Gonzales and the Fort Apache Band, among others.
