Fletcher's stellar performance of our National Anthem at Boston's Fenway Park, made it a true song of hope and glory. Her voice is extraordinary and she is truly an original soul singer. When you hear her sing, you are transported to a place where tone rules. Her honest delivery goes strait to your heart and your skin is tight from the chills she leaves you with.
Deeply rooted in the American traditions, Fletcher is also a gospel singer in the vain of Mahalia Jackson and The Barrett Sisters. She has an uncanny ability to adapt to different genres and sing with ease, be it rock and roll or opera, country or the blues, she's done it all.
Born in rural Vermont, Fletcher grew up listening to classic country greats like Hank Williams, Kitty Wells, Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash. Her influences also included her mother and grandmother who where both musicians. Her grandmother was the pianist and organist for her beloved Baptist church. Tammy's mother, a pianist as well, had a love for the Caribbean and its beautiful haunting sounds and would play world music often. Being the youngest in the family of seven, Fletcher's influences were diverse. Elvis, The Rolling Stones, Tom Jones, Dusty Springfield, Stevie Wonder and Led Zeppelin were just a few.
She has shared the stage with legendary artists like Taj Mahall, John Mayall, Buddy Guy, Edger Winter, and Leon Russell. She has performed with Marsha Ball, Francine Reed at the Discover Jazz festival and was a special guest with Phish, on stage at the Flynn Theater.
Fletcher has produced two albums, "Disciples" and "Live at Mad River" with her band The Disciples. She is a studio favorite and is successful in her commercial work as well. Currently, she is in production on her 3rd album - scheduled for released in 2004.
